April Contest 2022

Skewesy!

What an amazing contest! The waves certainly turned it on for us in the April contest! Some members managing to get hold of some of the best waves the beach has had for a while, scoring was a tough gig in some heats! Bryce nearly getting two 10-point rides in the one heat, with some exceptional surfing! Nose riding by Bryce, Singy, Wako and Mitch were keeping the crowd well entertained. Hands got a screamer, running a fast left all the way into the corner whilst in the B grades Tony got some great waves to come out with the win! It was a close heat with Angela hot on his heels, getting some great waves but Tony got a beautiful right all the way through, its those kinds of waves that get you the extra points. The C grades really stepped it up in today’s conditions, Tahlia taking off on a big set with a heavy drop and some great walking the board to push her way into the lead. Olivia was in fine form taking the win in the second round, some nice waves coming along for all competitors.

We have a few new members, so please introduce yourself to each other, we are a warm welcoming bunch!

Over the hill we go, to a perfect sunny set-up for a BBQ. The two Andys (Payne and Shannon) cooking up a storm for us with a few cold drinks to wash it all down. A great afternoon had by all, which really nailed the reasons why hanging around for the BBQ and raffles makes it fun and engaging, having a great chat with friends and getting to know others.

One quick request, can we leave 3 car spaces available for those who bring all the equipment, it would be great if Mitch who does such an amazing job bringing the gear every contest could park near the access track. Sometimes we need extra gear from the trailer which then we need to go all the way to the Surf Club just to retrieve it and then take the trailer all the way back. If we could all be mindful that if there is 3 car spaces left at the access track, then Mitch doesn’t have to drive the trailer all the way back to the surf club and run all the way back to the contest area every time.

It takes a certain kind of person to receive this award, many have earnt the right through minor and major stuff ups, inconveniences and down right stupidity. However, when this month’s award was allocated to a certain member who jumped ship (Grades) and this meant edited towards point scores needed redoing, allocation to entry in heat draws etc, it’s fitting that the Dipstick of the Month goes to this member. HOWEVER! When another person then forgets to even give the award out and present it to a very deserving winner, this completely overrides the winners luck, a new champion is crowned. That’s right I forgot to give out the award and therefore crown myself as the recipient of the Dipstick of the Month!

Cheers, Prez!
